Relation of illegal immigrants and international crime

Malaysia will share their views and stance on regional issues including the relation of illegal immigrants, and international crime conference in Bali Ministerial Process on Wednesday.

Home Minister, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said the conference will be a platform to refine the discussions held between the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak with his counterparts from Australia, Julia Gillard recently.

According to him, the meeting will consider a proposal from the High Commission of the Organization of the United Nations for Refugees (UNHCR) to establish a regional cooperation framework to handle problems in the Asia-Pacific Immigrants.

"Senior officers from each country participating in this conference will meet first, on this day to see the framework of regional cooperation agenda before the meeting at the ministerial level held.

"The countries involved are Australia, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, New Zealand and Singapore," he said in a statement here today.

Hishammuddin said the proposed framework allows a mechanism for cooperation among the source countries, transit and destination of Immigrants created thereby find solutions to overcome them.
